Altruism in horses – Shetland pony defends little foal against stallion

Little Tibor (Shetland) helps his little pal (1y) against the ‘hazard’.
The stallion is a crossbreed Lusitano/PRE (Andalusian)

There is not any household relationship in them, they know one another now about 4 month now. Still this habits fascinates me, why does he do it as a result of it doesn’t advantages him (Tibor) it advantages the little one so it would match in the definition of altruism.

Interesting to know is that Tibor (d.brown) was raised with a gelding he adored, and later a stallion that pal to rape him many occasions. So he’s ‘skilled’ in the way in which a stallion makes advances. It may be of affect.

When the foal got here to us, on the age of 4 month, Tibor didn’t like him in any respect.
