An intriguing movie that unravels the parable of Nigeria’s Hyena People, who arrive in cities wrapped in rock pythons, with hyenas in chains and with educated monkeys turning somersaults. Some consider that they’re half animal and possess magical powers. The actuality is that they’re travelling minstrels incomes cash by performing with animals. This examines the conflict between the city and the wild, and the paradoxical relationship that the handlers have with their animals – typically loving, typically brutal and merciless.
